Resalat Al-Salam Foundation Explores Cultural, Intellectual and Media Cooperation with Malawi Embassy in Cairo
A delegation from Resalat Al-Salam Foundation held a meeting on Monday, October 5, 2026, with officials from the Embassy of the Republic of Malawi in Cairo to explore prospects for cooperation in the cultural, intellectual, media and academic fields, as well as a number of initiatives that could be implemented in the future to promote intercultural dialogue and advance the values of peace, coexistence, justice and human fraternity.
These values are central to the mission of Resalat Al-Salam Foundation and to the intellectual vision established by the prominent Arab thinker Mr. Ali Mohamed Al-Shurafa Al-Hammadi, Founder and Supreme President of Resalat Al-Salam Foundation.
The Malawian side was represented by Paxton Faison Mawlidi, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Malawi in Cairo; Zaid Khamisa, Counsellor at the Embassy; and Adam Younes, First Secretary at the Embassy.
The Resalat Al-Salam Foundation delegation included Dr. Moataz Salah El-Din, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Resalat Al-Salam Foundation in Cairo; Osama Ibrahim, Board Member and Founding Secretary-General of the Foundation; and Mohamed Moataz, External Relations Coordinator at the Foundation’s Cairo Office.
During the meeting, the Foundation delegation presented an overview of the institution, its mission and its objectives, particularly its efforts to promote Quranic values including peace, justice, mercy and human coexistence, while introducing the intellectual project of its founder, prominent Arab thinker Mr. Ali Mohamed Al-Shurafa Al-Hammadi.
The delegation also reviewed a number of the Foundation’s international activities and partnerships, as well as its network of offices and representatives in 51 countries worldwide and its cultural, intellectual and media activities across different regions.
The meeting also highlighted the Foundation’s participation in international book fairs, conferences and cultural events, in addition to its cooperation with institutions and individuals from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds and its cultural, intellectual and media engagement with a number of diplomatic missions in Cairo.
The Foundation delegation further presented the intellectual publications of its founder, Mr. Ali Mohamed Al-Shurafa Al-Hammadi, which comprise more than 35 books published in several languages, with particular attention to titles available in English. These publications could potentially be made available to academic and cultural institutions in Malawi.
During the meeting, Dr. Moataz Salah El-Din presented the Deputy Head of Mission with copies in Arabic and English of The Quran Witnesses the Truth of the Christian Faith, as well as copies in Arabic and English of The Message of Islam: Mercy, Justice, Freedom and Peace.
The delegation also highlighted Resalat Al-Salam Foundation’s international engagement with UNESCO, describing this as an important milestone in the Foundation’s international development and institutional presence.
Malawi’s Experience of Social Coexistence
Malawi’s experience of social coexistence emerged as a key theme of the discussions. The participants explored the possibility of presenting the Malawian experience as a model that could contribute to broader dialogue on coexistence among followers of different religions and cultures.
The Foundation expressed its readiness to contribute to the preparation of intellectual and media materials highlighting Malawi’s experience and examining its potential as a model for peaceful dialogue and coexistence, in line with the Foundation’s objectives of supporting a culture of peace and dialogue among societies.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of organizing joint cultural and intellectual events or seminars addressing these themes, either in Cairo or, at a later stage, in Malawi, with the participation of intellectuals, academics and cultural figures from both sides.
The Foundation delegation stressed that the proposed cooperation should not be based on a one-way exchange of intellectual content, but rather on mutual exchange and the sharing of experiences and expertise.
Exchange of Publications and Academic Cooperation
The meeting also discussed strengthening cultural cooperation through the exchange of publications and books. Resalat Al-Salam Foundation expressed its readiness to provide the Embassy of Malawi with a selected collection of its publications in English, with the possibility of subsequently making them available to educational, cultural and academic institutions in Malawi identified in coordination with the Malawian side.
The initiative is intended to expand access to the Foundation’s intellectual output among institutions, researchers and students, while opening new channels for intellectual and cultural dialogue across Africa.
The participants also explored the possibility of leveraging the Foundation’s international network to establish future links with academic and cultural institutions in Malawi.
Media Cooperation
Media cooperation was another area discussed during the meeting, particularly in light of the Foundation’s network of media platforms and websites operating in Arabic, English and other languages.
The two sides discussed the possibility of using these platforms to highlight Malawian cultural and community activities, as well as to provide coverage of events and initiatives that may be organized jointly by the Embassy and the Foundation.
Potential cooperation could also include the production and publication of informative materials introducing Malawi and highlighting aspects of its cultural and social experience in peaceful coexistence.
The meeting further considered establishing future channels of communication with educational and academic institutions in Malawi, particularly in fields related to intellectual and cultural studies, interfaith dialogue, coexistence and peace.
Exploring Economic and Investment Opportunities
The discussions also extended to the possibility of exploring economic and investment opportunities in Malawi through the international network and relationships of Resalat Al-Salam Foundation.
The Foundation delegation reviewed part of its experience in participating in international book fairs, conferences and cultural events, highlighting the possibility of drawing on this experience in developing joint events and initiatives in the future.
The meeting also considered opportunities for the Malawian side to participate in selected intellectual and cultural activities organized by the Foundation, as well as the possibility of developing joint events focused on peace, justice, coexistence and intercultural dialogue.
The participants emphasized the importance of involving young people, academics and community stakeholders in such initiatives, allowing the proposed cooperation to extend beyond the formal diplomatic framework into broader cultural and community engagement.
Positive Outlook for Follow-up
The meeting concluded in an atmosphere of openness and a shared interest in exploring practical areas of cooperation between the Embassy of Malawi in Cairo and Resalat Al-Salam Foundation.
Among the areas identified for potential follow-up are cultural and intellectual cooperation, the organization of joint events, the exchange of publications, media cooperation, establishing communication channels with academic and educational institutions in Malawi, and exploring additional areas that could serve the mutual interests of both sides.
Resalat Al-Salam Foundation is expected to continue coordination with the Embassy regarding the next steps, with the aim of translating the ideas discussed during the meeting into practical initiatives according to the priorities and available resources of both sides.
The meeting forms part of Resalat Al-Salam Foundation’s broader effort to expand its international network and strengthen its cultural and intellectual presence in Africa through institutional partnerships based on dialogue, cultural exchange and the promotion of peace and human coexistence.
